This Month's Tip - Homeowners Insurance

There are few things more important and also less intriguing than homeowners insurance. The policies are dry to read, yet critically important to understand so that you are clear on how your biggest investment is protected. You owe it to yourself to make an appt to meet directly with your insurance agent to have a detailed discussion about your coverage, what’s included and what’s excluded, and what you can expect to happen should you experience a loss (i.e., logistics, communication, delays, timing, etc.) Also, have a candid conversation with your agent about a REALISTIC amount of coverage, keeping in mind that if you have a loss, others around might also have a loss. Widespread losses in the same area can lead to spikes in labor and material costs, potentially rendering your amount of coverage insufficient. And, as always, be sure to keep your policies, invoices, declaration pages and agent contact info in a safe and easily accessible location.

Pope Avenue Projects:
As you drive down Hilton Head’s original “main street” you will note a few changes recently completed and also underway. The first is the removal of the median-cut at Office Park Road. This comes as a result of the realignment of Office Park Road, which now runs smoothly from the corner at CVS all the way past Park Plaza to Greenwood Drive. This is a nice roadway to take now. Secondly, the park across from CVS along Pope may see some development finally by the Town – keep your eyes open for progress soon. Lastly, in the Town’s effort to create a pathway to the beach, you will see a new leisure trail/bike path under construction along the south side of Pope Avenue, establishing a wide, scenic and now-safe route for pedestrians and cyclists nicely separated from the road on Pope Avenue.


Bluffton Parkway Opens!
Bluffton Parkway Extension Opens! Residents and visitors in Bluffton are experiencing a terrific sense of freedom from traffic congestion as they enjoy the new and expanded roadways that cross through this vastly-growing town. On the heels of the recent expansion of the additional lanes on Hwy 278, which has expedited commutes and generally reduced waiting time on the main thoroughfare, Blufftonians now are enjoying the newly constructed stretch of the Bluffton Parkway. Now reaching from Hwy 170 to Burnt Church Road, this secondary roadway system is a welcomed artery that helps local-destination traffic flow much easier now. Early indications are that this is a very popular roadway for vehicle traffic as well as bicycle traffic, creating a much needed, safer avenue for cycling enthusiasts.
